One of the most popular and successful football teams in the world, Oxford City Football Club (OCFC), has teamed up with the Isle of Man-based bitcoin business CoinCorner to accept bitcoin payments.
Starting on August 6, customers may use bitcoin instead of credit cards or cash to pay for tickets, food, and beverages at the RAW Charging Stadium.
The first National League football team to accept BTC matchday payments is Oxford City Football Club (OCFC).
Fans may buy the new, limited-edition Oxford City FC-branded bolt card from CoinCorner in the club shop.
In accordance with the partnership agreement, CoinCorner will also serve as a sponsor of the Oxford City jerseys. After the start of the season on August 6, both the home and away kits will include the Bitcoin logo.
As digital money becomes the new standard for sports fans and event attendees throughout the U.K., CoinCorner CEO Danny Scott said, “We anticipate this decision will create a trend across Non-league and Football League divisions.”
Soccer teams are not hopping on the bitcoin train. For instance, in August 2019, Premier League powerhouse Manchester City tokenized its players with Superbloke.
Singapore-based One of the cryptocurrency exchanges with the highest rate of growth, Crypto.com, announced on January 17 that it has entered into a five-year collaboration arrangement with the Australian Football League (AFL).
